Seattle is known for its sheer number of annual festivities hosting over 100 every year. There is a festival for every occasion!

For foodies there is Taste Washington, Bite of Seattle, music lovers have Sasquatch Music Festival, Capitol Hill Block Party, Bumbershoot.

2. Diverse Ecology

Did you know that Seattle is home to the Puget Sound? Puget Sound is a huge region stretching from the Cascade Mountains in the east to the Olympic Mountains in the west, from the Canadian border in the north to Mount Rainier in the south. It’s also a deep estuary – where saltwater and freshwater merge, and the second largest estuary in the US.

The city is not only surrounded by water, but mountains, forests, and vast acres of parkland. Mount Rainer, and active volcano is 59 miles south so if you are fancy a trek in the wilderness, Seattle is the place for you.

With its diverse wilderness, anyone one can enjoy an assortment of outdoor activities in Seattle such as canoeing, skiing, hiking, and sailing. If you have a yacht, take it for a ride, park it on Emerald Landing (emeraldlanding.com) then relax, and enjoy the moorage’s slew of amenities.

4. Birthplace of Grunge 

Seattle is known as the birthplace of the grunge movement, which was often referred to as the “Seattle Sound”. Some of the world’s most renowned music legends hailed from here namely Nirvana, Jimi Hendrix, Kenny G, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and Chris Cornell all have roots in Seattle.

Other Industry Titans hailed from here; Bill Gates was born in Seattle and it’s where Microsoft was founded, it’s also home to Amazon, Expedia, and the first ever Starbucks was opened in Pike Place Market.

5. Centre of Art

For art buffs, Seattle is a dreamland. You can spend a whole week exploring close to 200 art galleries, art museums, and a slew of public art.
