Backpacking holidays always seem like they should be about saving money. Travelling cheaply, living in hostels, and buying food from street markets where you can. Nevertheless, you can definitely inject a little luxury into your travels if you need it. Feet Do Travel share some of the reasons why you should treat yourself to luxury when backpacking.
India is a Country of contrasts. From Temples to Tigers, colourful paint throwing festivals to white sand beaches, India has something to tease every type of emotion.
Our visit to India changed our view of travelling. It opened our eyes to a different culture, opened our hearts to locals who waved enthusiastically, and welcomed us with big smiles. The sights, sounds and smells of India awaken your senses, and a ride in a tuk-tuk will definitely make you feel alive!
Feet Do Travel will help with all you need to know about visiting India, from what to wear to obtaining a visa. We show you why India should be on your bucket list.
India. A country on my bucket list, but Sy wasn’t initially keen. He was unsure whether the culture shock would take away the pleasure of the experience. Little did he realise that it was because of the difference in culture he would love it so much!
There are many places to visit in India, however there were two specific reasons why North India and the Golden Triangle were high on my list; the Taj Mahal Agra, and to see tigers in the wild. When we found a tour company incorporating both, it was a no brainer!
What an absolutely amazing time we had!
The Taj Mahal in Agra, India is one of the new seven wonders of the world. One of the world’s most iconic buildings, it’s on most people’s bucket list.
It was at the top of ours!
I have known about the Taj Mahal my entire life, in fact, I cannot remember a time when I wasn’t aware of it. Back in 1992, Princess Diana had her iconic photograph taken on a bench in front of the stunning white marble building, this helped catapult the world’s most famous mausoleum into modern fame. Who wouldn’t want to replicate such a beautiful photo?
That bench is still there affectionately known as Lady Di’s Chair’.
But would I be disappointed when I visited, especially as we were going for sunrise. Is the Taj Mahal just another building? Or is it the greatest monument of love ever built?
Very few wildlife encounters can beat a safari. I have been lucky enough to participate in around 26 game drives in my life and out of all of them, the best was searching for wild tigers in Ranthambore National Park, India.
If you are planning to visit the “Golden Triangle” (Delhi, Agra & Jaipur) it is definitely worth incorporating a trip to Ranthambore, considered to be the real life jungle book. A tiger safari to see one of the world’s most endangered species in their natural habitat, should be on every animal lovers bucket list.
But why was this safari so special in comparison to others? Let me share with you our story and you can judge for yourself.
