Everyone loves a good vacation, don’t they? Even sitting down to book the vacation of a lifetime is enough to bubble that excitement in the pit of your stomach. However, when travel season comes around and your bank account is crying, it can feel almost like grieving when you realise that you may not be able to take your usual yearly vacation. Money isn’t everything, but when it comes to getting your booking on with your much-needed vacation, it’s everything and more.

Costs always soar during vacation season – namely March through to October. Getting a chance to snap up a reasonably priced resort or flight during the times where the children across the world are also taking a break is harder than anything else. You can book accommodation for cities with companies like Glamour Apartments, but finding the best flights without breaking the vacay budget? It can feel impossible! So, when you need some tricks of the trade to get the best prices for the busy times, read on, you’ll be gearing up to book in no time at all.

Don’t Wait. It could be really tempting to try and cinch a last second city deal for your time away, but this isn’t the way to go. To get your hands on the lowest possible rates, you need to be booking as early as you can. Firstly, sign up to the airlines that you want to use and the fare routes that you want to take; you will be alerted when flights are available for booking. You may also end up on the receiving end of excellent discount codes and deals this way. Secondly, booking early gives you ample time to pay off a vacation; always needed if you are pressed for cash.

Play The Game. There are a ton of airlines just waiting to sell you something and you have the power to play them off against each other. If multiple airlines are offered to you with different prices, you can easily get yourself on the live chat on the website and explain you’ve found a better offer and ask whether there are any better deals that they can offer you.

Different Airports. Did you know that you could save a lot of money simply by choosing an airport in a lesser known city to fly from? The flights out of the main airport in a country are often going to be more expensive than from the twee little airport in the sticks. Play around with different airport options and see what comes up.

Off-Peak Timing. Okay, so you have to align your vacation with the school your kids go to. No problem. If you go two or three days before the end of the semester, or even the day the semester finishes (hello night flight!), you can save some cash right off the bat.

Your vacation doesn’t have to cost the earth, so don’t let it. Get on that plane and chase that horizon with cash in your pocket!
