Travelling during a pandemic can be a little frightening, and depending on your situation and how serious the pandemic is, it can cancel your travel plans. First and foremost, listen to the World Health Organization (WHO) Government health advice, and keep yourself updated with travel restrictions.

If you have a work trip or a vacation planned and you choose to travel, Feet Do Travel share a few tips how to remain safe while travelling.

Carrying hand sanitiser is excellent travel advice even when there isn't a pandemic
Invest in hand sanitiser

Hand sanitiser is an essential item that you will want to keep on you at all times. You leave the bathroom at the airport, use hand sanitiser. Just received your coffee from the barista, use hand sanitiser. Handled money that looks or feels dirty, use hand sanitiser.

This produce will become your best friend! When entering a different state or country, you have the potential of catching a virus or germ that your immune system has never experienced before. You will need to take extra precaution to remain clean and healthy from the moment you start your travels, to when you finish.

Wearing a surgical face mask can help stop the spread of disease
Purchase a reusable and washable face mask

Whether you are sick or not, wearing a face mask is not a bad idea whilst travelling during a pandemic.

In some cases, you may not even realise you are sick, and could be contagious without knowing, and some viruses are easily caught from a cough or sneeze. You will want to prevent the spread of germs and viruses as much as possible. We know that wearing a mask will not completely prevent you from coming in contact with a virus, but it will give you some sort of protection rather than none at all.

To save the environment, always wear a reusable, washable face mask. The world already has a single-use plastic problem without adding to it with single-use plastic face masks.

Even if you feel slightly sick, do not travel. Cough and sneezes spread diseases!
Don’t travel if you are sick

Whether or not there is a pandemic, it is recommended not to travel whilst you are ill.  Travelling when you are sick is not good for your immune system, and you also have the potential of spreading your virus leaving germs behind on things that you touch, and in buildings/planes which have air conditioning.

A virus can be spread if you are less than 6 feet from someone with an illness, or by coming into contact with someone who has coughed or sneezed near you.

If you are sick, especially during a pandemic, stay at home and keep yourself healthy. Think of all the people who you will be coming in contact with and how your germs can spread from one person to the next. Do it for others who may be less able to handle sickness than you, and sit this trip out!

If you have any Covid-19 symptoms - DO NOT TRAVEL UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

Taking Vitamin D and Tumeric can help boost your immune system
Take vitamins

When you know you are about to travel, you will want to remain as healthy as you can during your entire trip. Taking vitamin D can play a massive role in staying healthy. Here are a few benefits:
• Supports immune, brain and nervous health system
• Regulating insulin levels
• Supports lung and cardiovascular health
• Promotes healthy bones and teeth (According to Medical News Today)

Besides vitamin D, taking daily vitamins can help keep you in a healthier state all year-round. From muscle strength, your memory, and increased energy levels, taking daily vitamins can be beneficial to you.

An excellent alternative to vitamins is the spice turmeric. Incorporating turmeric into your diet has scientifically proven health benefits. Turmeric has the benefits of a natural anti-inflammatory compound, increases the antioxidant capacity of your body, lowers the risk of brain diseases, heart diseases, and so much more, according to Healthline.

Taking precautions and trying to boost your immune system before you travel will play a significant role in how you return home.

Maintaining your health is a serious matter, especially during a pandemic. Taking precautions and putting in the effort to stay germ-free and healthy will only help you as you travel.

Stay healthy out there!
