How to Make the Most of a Stopover

10/1/2020

How to make the most of a stopover, Feet Do Travel
Spending hours at an airport, whether you’re by yourself, or with young children, is bothersome at best. Stopover accommodation can add additional costs and be a pain when you just want to get to your destination. However, there are ways to make the most of your stopover, particularly if it is a long stopover where you can get the most from your trip.

Feet Do Travel explain how you can enhance your trip, starting with the stopover.
When flying internationally, airlines often have to stop en route to the final destination, and whilst this stop can sometimes last as little as an hour, it is usually several hours or even a whole day. Most people stay at the airport and wait for their transfer flight, or stay at an airport hotel if the transfer is the following day.

However, this is not your only option. If you would like to spend some time exploring your stopover city before going to your final destination, then there are ways to do so. Often there are concerns about the logistics of additional travel and cost, but did you know that adding an extra flight to your overall itinerary can sometimes work out cheaper?

You can choose to see your stopover as a mini-adventure. Who knows what you may encounter outside the airport walls. If you have always wanted to explore China and find yourself with a day in a Chinese airport, then it makes sense to make the most of this opportunity. Of course, it is essential not to forget to plan this and make sure you have the transit visum for China as you will not be able to leave the airport without it. Choosing to take your travel into your own hands, can be very rewarding, and if it means you avoid several hours waiting in the airport then its’ a no-brainer

How to Add a Stopover

If your airline doesn’t offer stopovers for specific trips, then there are ways to find out which airlines do, and if you can add this to your itinerary. Going directly through the airline is best, and giving them a phone call will get you the information you need, because this information is not always available online. Stopovers may be free or cost very little, but it may require you to be flexible with your travel dates.

Multi-stop flights

Multi-stop or multi-city flights allow you to select your destination and include various steps of your journey. This can easily be done online, with many flight comparison sites offering multi-stop options. Flight prices will vary, but this option can often be cheaper than having a direct flight, as most people tend to want to arrive at their destination with the minimum number of stops possible. If you can’t find a multi-city flight at a reasonable price, then consider looking at one-way flights, and seeing it this is a better option for you and your budget.

Travel agency

One of the easiest ways to take the logistics of organizing your trip out of your hands is to put it in the capable hands of an expert. Using a travel agency or a third party who specializes in complex airfare can be a fast option. You may be concerned that you will have to pay the additional costs of going through an agency; however, travel agents will be able to find the most economical way of traveling in a time-efficient way.
